In a big move for digital education, the Rajasthan government has confirmed that students of Classes 9 to 12 in government schools will start receiving free Android tablets with 4G SIMs from July 5, 2025. The scheme is part of the state’s initiative to reduce the learning gap in rural and low-income communities.
Each student will receive a 10-inch tablet with a year’s worth of free internet data. The devices come preloaded with Rajasthan Board syllabus materials, recorded classes, exam apps, and live class platforms.
According to education officers, the distribution in Jhunjhunu will be done school-wise under the supervision of Block Education Officers (BEOs). Students must bring their Aadhaar card and school ID to receive the device.
Teachers across Jhunjhunu have been trained in how to help students use the devices effectively, without misuse. Schools are also planning digital orientation sessions.
“This will be a game-changer, especially for board exam students. Now even those in remote areas can prepare for NEET or REET right from home,” said Anjali Sharma, a teacher in Nawalgarh.
