Water supply pipeline infrastructure in rural Jhunjhunu, June 2025

Jhunjhunu News: ₹7,000 Cr Master Plan to Provide Clean Drinking Water Approved

Jaipur/Jhunjhunu | June 30, 2025
Big news for residents of Jhunjhunu and surrounding districts — the Rajasthan government has approved a ₹7,000 crore master plan to ensure piped drinking water reaches every home in Sikar and Jhunjhunu. The announcement came over the weekend and was confirmed by officials in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

This project, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, is set to begin by the end of July 2025 and will involve major infrastructure including new pipelines, water treatment plants, and elevated storage tanks across hundreds of gram panchayats.

“Every household will get regular supply of sweet, clean drinking water,” said PHED Minister Mahesh Joshi. “Jhunjhunu and Sikar have suffered water shortages for decades. This will be a game-changer.”

Currently, many villages in Jhunjhunu depend on tanker supply or handpumps, especially in summer months. The new plan focuses on long-term sustainability by tapping into Yamuna pipelines and underground reservoirs for consistent delivery.

Local MLAs and village heads welcomed the decision, stating this will ease the water burden especially for women and children who walk long distances for water every day.

Why It Matters for Jhunjhunu Residents

This is more than just a government announcement — it’s a lifeline for rural families who struggle every day to fetch safe water. Improved drinking water means fewer diseases, less daily hardship, and more time for education and income work.

Officials say the first phase of implementation will prioritize water-scarce areas of Jhunjhunu and Sikar districts.
