Jhunjhunu is stepping into the future of water management! The Nagar Parishad has officially launched a pilot project for digital water meters in Ward 11, aiming to bring accuracy, transparency, and timely billing to urban households.
Under this pilot, 150 homes in Ward 11 will receive smart meters that automatically track usage, send real-time updates to the civic dashboard, and notify users of unusually high consumption or leakage.
Previously, residents had to rely on estimated billing or manual meter readings. With digital meters, people will receive SMS alerts, online bills, and monthly usage summaries. Over time, this could help reduce water wastage and promote efficient usage.
Ward Councillor Ritu Saini said, “This is a first for Jhunjhunu. If the pilot works, we plan to scale it city-wide in phases by early 2026.”
Officials also mentioned plans to introduce a citizen app where users can track their water bill, request maintenance, or report leaks. Installations in Ward 11 will be completed by July 10, and feedback will be collected over the next 60 days.
