Light rain in Jhunjhunu streets during monsoon

Light Rain Expected in Jhunjhunu This Weekend, Says IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weekend forecast predicting light to moderate rainfall in Jhunjhunu and surrounding areas from June 28 to June 30. After weeks of scorching heat, the showers are expected to bring much-needed relief to residents and early hope for local farmers.

According to IMD officials, 1–5 mm of rain is likely across Surajgarh, Nawalgarh, and Chirawa tehsils. While no severe weather alerts have been issued, the IMD suggests carrying umbrellas and preparing for light waterlogging in low-lying areas.

The rainfall is expected to help farmers begin early field preparation for the kharif crop season. It will also cool down temperatures by 2–3°C, offering some relief to students and vendors grappling with the ongoing heatwave.

Municipal officials in Jhunjhunu said drainage systems are being inspected ahead of the weekend to prevent any blockages.
