Rajasthan Board introduces AI subject in Class 9 curriculum, students learning basics in Jhunjhunu lab

Rajasthan Board to Introduce AI Basics in Class 9 From 2025–26 Academic Year

Big news for students and schools across Rajasthan! The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has officially announced the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an elective subject for Class 9 students starting from the 2025–26 academic session.

The course will cover AI fundamentals, ethical use of technology, and real-life applications such as virtual assistants, image recognition, and chatbots. It will be introduced in government and private schools alike, including model schools in Jhunjhunu, Bissau, and Buhana.

Board Secretary Dr. Manisha Bhandari said, “AI is shaping the future job market. Teaching it early will empower students to think critically and creatively using technology.”

Training for teachers has already begun in phases, with Jhunjhunu district among the early adopters. The subject will be offered as an optional module under the broader ICT and vocational education stream.

Parents in Jhunjhunu have welcomed the move, hoping it will better prepare students for competitive fields like coding, robotics, and data science. Students who enroll will also get access to online simulation labs and AI challenge contests organized at the state level.
